Movie review

An evil little being resembling a miniature blue Namekian and/or Emperor Pilaf (but whose actual race is never mentioned), Garlic Jr., is gathering all of the Dragon Balls together to wish for immortality. Since young Gohan has Sûshinchû (Si Xing Qiu, the 4-star ball) sewn to his cap, Gohan is kidnapped by Garlic's minions. This causes Goku to seek out Garlic (whose mansion is located on a black island to the south of Kame House). Garlic also wants to get rid of Kami-sama (who beat Garlic Jr.'s father to the throne of Kami for the Earth), so his minions attempt to kill Piccolo (if Piccolo dies, Kami-sama also dies, and vice versa). Kami-sama and Piccolo join in the battle, as does Kuririn. The minions are wasted, but Garlic Jr. already made his wish.. immortality. Garlic and Kami-sama fight it out, and Garlic wins. Before Garlic Jr. has the chance to kill Kami-sama, Goku and Piccolo show up together, and team up to fight the now-immortal beast.

Garlic Jr. gets beaten up a bit by Goku and Piccolo, so he decides to create a "Dead Zone" (seemingly like a black hole) which threatens to suck everyone in and kill them. But Gohan (who had eaten a hallucinagenic apple, and is still feeling a bit of a buzz) gets angry, and blasts Garlic into the Dead Zone. The Dead Zone closes, sticking Garlic into a form of eternal hell.

Funimation review

Gohan has been kidnapped! To make matters worse, the evil Garlic Junior is gathering the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. Only then will Garlic Junior be able to take over the Earth in order to gain revenge for the death of his father.

Goku rushes to save Gohan, but arrives at the fortress just as Garlic Junior summons the Eternal Dragon! Krillin and Piccolo try to help Goku, but their combined powers are no match for Garlic Junior, who creates a "Dead Zone" to suck the heroes into oblivion! Suddenly, Goku begins to show his hidden power, but will it be enough?!
